During the Second World War many events took place around the country to raise money for the 'war effort'. Windsor was no exception. In 1944 the borough organised 'Salute The Soldier Week' and had previously organised 'War Weapons Week' in 1941, 'Warship Week' in 1942, and 'Wings for Victory Week' in 1943, which saw the beginnings of the Royal Windsor Horse Show we know today.
